If for some reason you do not have access to the automatic update feature, you can manually update the World Time 2006 database. Simply follow the steps below. The process is described for WinXP:
- Close World Time 2006
- Open the Program Folder which is usually located at C:\Program Files\Utech Computer Solutions\World Time 2006
- Click on Tools>Folder Options>View and remove the tick in “Hide extensions for known file types”
- Right-click on each of the following links in turn and click on “Save Target As” or “Save Link As” or similar (depending on your browser) and store the files on your desktop or in a folder of your choice.
- Remove the extension of each file by renaming the files. To do that, right click on each file in turn, click on Rename and changeMapCoords.txt to MapCoords
maps.txt to maps
places.txt to places
sites.txt to sites
tz.txt to tz
- Click on Yes to confirm the warning after each change.
- Copy or move each file into the Program Folder replacing the existing files
- Restart World Time 2006.
You now may want to go back to step 3 and place the tick in the box again if you wish.
Powered by Hackadelic Sliding Notes 1.6.5If you don’t like any clocks on the desktop, and instead have them showing in the taksbar, follow these steps:
- Create one or more desktop clocks if you don’t have any yet. (Please refer to World Time 2006 Help for more information on how to do this)
- Right click on any of the desktop clocks and click on “Minimize Clocks”If the clocks do not appear in the taskbar, please make sure “Minimize to Task Bar” is selected on the Clocks tab in Options and the “Show clock times in Task Bar …” is ticked.
- Make sure you have the latest version of World Time 2006.
- A workaround for this is to move the offending clock away and put it back to the edge.
- It is also possible that the clocks are actually not at the edge, but slightly off. This is less likely the case because they should snap to the edge when moved close to it.
- When certain World Time windows are open clocks don’t hide. This is by design as it is required for the use of the program.
- Under certain circumstances all the clocks can temporarily “forget” to hide, until the mouse moves over one of the clocks again.
To change your clocks to 24 hour format please follow these steps:
- Open the Clock Designer from within the Control Center under the Clock Menu, or by right clicking on a desktop clock.
- In the Clock Designer, click the Advanced button, and click on the Text tab.
- Find the Field that corresponds with the time, by clicking on the items in the list.
- Select a time format from the Format drop down list.
- If none of the time formats does what you want, select Custom and enter a format string in the Format field below. For example H:mm will give you the hour and minute in 24 hour format.
For further information about custom formats, refer to the reference sheet “How to create your own custom time and date format” that comes up when you select Custom Format, or find this information in the relevant Help section of the program.
